Skyler Witman and John Washenko came from mining families, grew up together and have remained close friends ever since. At a young age both experienced financial calamity when the mines closed leading to foreclosure. This instilled in the young men a passion to never again experience this financial devastation and the desire to help other families avoid it also. Together they founded Accelerated Equity and Development, which became one of the most successful mortgage companies in Utah.

Ten years later Accelerated Equity and Development was helping families achieve their dream of home ownership but clients were still not getting out of debt, only refinancing and increasing their debt. Witman and Washenko still had their vision to help their clients become debt free and offered the biweekly program; but even biweekly programs were not the answer as most people could not stick with them. They researched other programs in Europe and Australia that were able to pay off mortgages and save thousands of dollars in interest.
The banking regulations in the US precluded using the European system in this country, they were not deterred but invested $2.5 million and partnered with former GE Aeronautics Engineers to develop the Money Merge Account System. After 2 years of development they were ready to go live but instead began with a test market of 400 in Colorado. Two years later 97.5% were still on the program and were 15-20% ahead of the projected pay off time. It was released to the public in March 2006.
